Central/Eastern Europe(?), ca. 10th c. (?) Silver. Dia. 27 cm. In category of Central/E. European imitations of Eastern designs. Found prior to 1873 in Russia. Ex-Stroganov coll., Rome. Pub.: Smirnov no. 160.

The most extensive atlas of Eastern metal work, much of it in the Hermitage collections; some now in other collections. A basic source of images, often including small details, with brief description of provenance and a very compressed introductory essay by Smirnov, who was the curator of these collections in the Hermitage.
