Genesis Chapter 20

א וַיִּסַּע מִשָּׁם אַבְרָהָם אַרְצָה הַנֶּגֶב, וַיֵּשֶׁב בֵּין-קָדֵשׁ וּבֵין שׁוּר; וַיָּגָר, בִּגְרָר.	1 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the land of the South, and dwelt between Kadesh and Shur; and he sojourned in Gerar. 1. És elköltözék onnan Ábrahám a déli tartományba, és letelepedék Kádes és Súr között, és tartózkodék Gérárban.
ב וַיֹּאמֶר אַבְרָהָם אֶל-שָׂרָה אִשְׁתּוֹ, אֲחֹתִי הִוא; וַיִּשְׁלַח, אֲבִימֶלֶךְ מֶלֶךְ גְּרָר, וַיִּקַּח, אֶת-שָׂרָה.	2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife: 'She is my sister.' And Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. 2. És monda Ábrahám Sáráról az ő feleségéről: Én húgom ő. Elkülde azért Abimélek Gérárnak királya, és elviteté Sárát.
ג וַיָּבֹא אֱלֹהִים אֶל-אֲבִימֶלֶךְ, בַּחֲלוֹם הַלָּיְלָה; וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ, הִנְּךָ מֵת עַל-הָאִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר-לָקַחְתָּ, וְהִוא, בְּעֻלַת בָּעַל.	3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him: 'Behold, thou shalt die, because of the woman whom thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife.' 3. De Isten Abimélekhez jöve éjjeli álomban, és monda néki: Ímé meghalsz az asszonyért, a kit elvettél, holott férjnél van.
ד וַאֲבִימֶלֶךְ, לֹא קָרַב אֵלֶיהָ; וַיֹּאמַר--אֲדֹנָי, הֲגוֹי גַּם-צַדִּיק תַּהֲרֹג.	4 Now Abimelech had not come near her; and he said: 'LORD, wilt Thou slay even a righteous nation? 4. Abimélek pedig nem illette vala őt, és monda: Uram, az ártatlan népet is megölöd-é?
ה הֲלֹא הוּא אָמַר-לִי אֲחֹתִי הִוא, וְהִיא-גַם-הִוא אָמְרָה אָחִי הוּא; בְּתָם-לְבָבִי וּבְנִקְיֹן כַּפַּי, עָשִׂיתִי זֹאת.	5 Said he not himself unto me: She is my sister? and she, even she herself said: He is my brother. In the simplicity of my heart and the innocency of my hands have I done this.' 5. Avagy nem ő mondotta-é nékem: én húgom ő; s ez is azt mondotta: én bátyám ő. Szívem ártatlanságában, és kezeim tisztaságában cselekedtem ezt.
ו וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו הָאֱלֹהִים בַּחֲלֹם, גַּם אָנֹכִי יָדַעְתִּי כִּי בְתָם-לְבָבְךָ עָשִׂיתָ זֹּאת, וָאֶחְשֹׂךְ גַּם-אָנֹכִי אוֹתְךָ, מֵחֲטוֹ-לִי; עַל-כֵּן לֹא-נְתַתִּיךָ, לִנְגֹּעַ אֵלֶיהָ.	6 And God said unto him in the dream: 'Yea, I know that in the simplicity of thy heart thou hast done this, and I also withheld thee from sinning against Me. Therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. 6. És monda az Isten néki álomban: Én is tudom, hogy szívednek ártatlanságában mívelted ezt, azért tartóztattalak én is, hogy ne vétkezzél ellenem, azért nem engedtem, hogy illessed azt.
ז וְעַתָּה, הָשֵׁב אֵשֶׁת-הָאִישׁ כִּי-נָבִיא הוּא, וְיִתְפַּלֵּל בַּעַדְךָ, וֶחְיֵה; וְאִם-אֵינְךָ מֵשִׁיב--דַּע כִּי-מוֹת תָּמוּת, אַתָּה וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר-לָךְ.	7 Now therefore restore the man's wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live; and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.' 7. Mostan azért add vissza az embernek az ő feleségét, mert Próféta ő: és imádkozik te éretted, és élsz; hogyha pedig vissza nem adod: tudd meg, hogy halállal halsz meg te, és minden hozzád tartozó.
ח וַיַּשְׁכֵּם אֲבִימֶלֶךְ בַּבֹּקֶר, וַיִּקְרָא לְכָל-עֲבָדָיו, וַיְדַבֵּר אֶת-כָּל-הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה, בְּאָזְנֵיהֶם; וַיִּירְאוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים, מְאֹד.	8 And Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears; and the men were sore afraid. 8. Felkele azért Abimélek reggel, és előhívatá minden szolgáját, s fülök hallatára mindezeket elbeszélé és az emberek igen megfélemlének.
ט וַיִּקְרָא אֲבִימֶלֶךְ לְאַבְרָהָם, וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ מֶה-עָשִׂיתָ לָּנוּ וּמֶה-חָטָאתִי לָךְ, כִּי-הֵבֵאתָ עָלַי וְעַל-מַמְלַכְתִּי, חֲטָאָה גְדֹלָה: מַעֲשִׂים אֲשֶׁר לֹא-יֵעָשׂוּ, עָשִׂיתָ עִמָּדִי.	9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him: 'What hast thou done unto us? and wherein have I sinned against thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.' 9. És hívatá Abimélek Ábrahámot, és monda néki: Mit cselekedtél mi velünk? És mit vétettem te ellened, hogy én reám és az én országomra ilyen nagy bűnt hoztál? A miket cselekedni nem szabad, olyan dolgokat cselekedtél ellenem.
י וַיֹּאמֶר אֲבִימֶלֶךְ, אֶל-אַבְרָהָם: מָה רָאִיתָ, כִּי עָשִׂיתָ אֶת-הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה.	10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham: 'What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?' 10. És monda Abimélek Ábrahámnak: Mit láttál, hogy ezt a dolgot cselekedted?
יא וַיֹּאמֶר, אַבְרָהָם, כִּי אָמַרְתִּי רַק אֵין-יִרְאַת אֱלֹהִים, בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה; וַהֲרָגוּנִי, עַל-דְּבַר אִשְׁתִּי.	11 And Abraham said: 'Because I thought: Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake. 11. Felele Ábrahám: Bizony azt gondoltam: nincsen istenfélelem e helyen, és megölnek engem az én feleségemért.
יב וְגַם-אָמְנָה, אֲחֹתִי בַת-אָבִי הִוא--אַךְ, לֹא בַת-אִמִּי; וַתְּהִי-לִי, לְאִשָּׁה.	12 And moreover she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and so she became my wife. 12. De valósággal húgom is, az én atyámnak leánya ő, csakhogy nem az én anyámnak leánya; és így lőn feleségemmé.
יג וַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר הִתְעוּ אֹתִי, אֱלֹהִים מִבֵּית אָבִי, וָאֹמַר לָהּ, זֶה חַסְדֵּךְ אֲשֶׁר תַּעֲשִׂי עִמָּדִי: אֶל כָּל-הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר נָבוֹא שָׁמָּה, אִמְרִי-לִי אָחִי הוּא.	13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her: This is thy kindness which thou shalt show unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me: He is my brother.' 13. És lőn hogy a mikor kibujdostata engem az Isten az én atyámnak házából, azt mondám néki: Ilyen kegyességet cselekedjél én velem, mindenütt valahová megyünk, azt mondjad én felőlem: én bátyám ez.
יד וַיִּקַּח אֲבִימֶלֶךְ צֹאן וּבָקָר, וַעֲבָדִים וּשְׁפָחֹת, וַיִּתֵּן, לְאַבְרָהָם; וַיָּשֶׁב לוֹ, אֵת שָׂרָה אִשְׁתּוֹ.	14 And Abimelech took sheep and oxen, and men-servants and women-servants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. 14. Akkor Abimélek vett juhokat, ökröket, szolgákat és szolgálókat, és adá Ábrahámnak, és vissza adá néki Sárát is az ő feleségét.
טו וַיֹּאמֶר אֲבִימֶלֶךְ, הִנֵּה אַרְצִי לְפָנֶיךָ: בַּטּוֹב בְּעֵינֶיךָ, שֵׁב.	15 And Abimelech said: 'Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.' 15. És monda Abimélek: Ímé előtted van az én országom, a hol tenéked jónak tetszik, ott lakjál.
טז וּלְשָׂרָה אָמַר, הִנֵּה נָתַתִּי אֶלֶף כֶּסֶף לְאָחִיךְ--הִנֵּה הוּא-לָךְ כְּסוּת עֵינַיִם, לְכֹל אֲשֶׁר אִתָּךְ; וְאֵת כֹּל, וְנֹכָחַת.	16 And unto Sarah he said: 'Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver; behold, it is for thee a covering of the eyes to all that are with thee; and before all men thou art righted.' 16. Sárának pedig monda: Ímé ezer ezüst pénzt adtam a te bátyádnak, ímé az neked a szemek befedezője mindazok előtt, a kik veled vannak; és így mindenképen igazolva vagy.
יז וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל אַבְרָהָם, אֶל-הָאֱלֹהִים; וַיִּרְפָּא אֱלֹהִים אֶת-אֲבִימֶלֶךְ וְאֶת-אִשְׁתּוֹ, וְאַמְהֹתָיו--וַיֵּלֵדוּ.	17 And Abraham prayed unto God; and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maid-servants; and they bore children. 17. Könyörge azért Ábrahám az Istennek, és meggyógyítá Isten Abiméleket, és az ő feleségét, és az ő szolgálóit, és szűlének.
יח כִּי-עָצֹר עָצַר יְהוָה, בְּעַד כָּל-רֶחֶם לְבֵית אֲבִימֶלֶךְ, עַל-דְּבַר שָׂרָה, אֵשֶׁת אַבְרָהָם. {ס}	18 For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife. {S} 18. Mert az Úr erősen bezárta vala az Abimélek háza népének méhét, Sáráért az Ábrahám feleségéért.
